Match 63: BRAZIL v.
NETHERLANDS
Date: Saturday July 12, 2014
Venue: Estadio Nacional,
BRASILIA
PANDO! or GORDO? Gordo?
Again, there is a place for the WC CONSOLATION MATCH, no matter what
the media says > It affords the opportunity for a side to win the last of
their seven Festival matches and go home with a little bit of hardware .. ..
And, there is nothing wrong with a 90-minute kick-round the day before
the Final .. ..
1st With
a pleading, encouraging Brasilia behind them, the poor BRA defence reared it's
head again with a terrific release ball from ROBIN VAN PERSIE setting ARJEN
ROBBEN free and was hauled down by THIAGO SILVA who was lucky
to get off with just a YC .. .. ROBIN VAN PERSIE calmly stroked his L/Footer > U/Left for a lead in the third minute .. ..
to get off with just a YC .. .. ROBIN VAN PERSIE calmly stroked his L/Footer > U/Left for a lead in the third minute .. ..
In
the 16th minute, another NED attack to the BRA byline created the usual havoc
in the BRA box and a headed clearance from DAVID LUIZ left DANNY BLIND
alone at the penalty spot for an eternity and he R/Footed the sitter >
U/Right .. .. NED has scored on their first two shots in the match .. ..
BRA
did not manage their first shot until they were down 0-2 when in the 21st
minute when OSCAR heaved one up from above the box and they got their only shot
from inside the NED box in he 28th minute from DAVID LUIZ .. .. 0-2 @ HT .. ..
2nd BRA
tried to come forward (like that's any problem) with 12 crosses + 5 attacking
set-pieces and in the 68th minute, the whole Festival was summed up when OSCAR
was clearly brought down in the box by DALEY BLIND and not only was it NOT a
PK, but OSCAR was booked for diving for the first time in the Festival (and it
was a PK) .. .. oh dear > buh-bye BRA .. ..
Despite
all the crosses, it was a R/Flank cross from DARYL JANMAAT found GEORGINIO
WIJNALDUM alone in R/Box and he tucked in his R/Footer > L/Right in
stoppage time .. .. 0-3 @ FT .. .. A nice final gesture by VAN GAAL was giving
backup GK MICHEL VORM a runout in stoppage time to make sure all 23 NED players
saw match time this past month .. ..
FIFA,
the disgrace that the are, further shamed themselves with the selection of an
ALG referee who was clearly out of his depth > The only reason to appoint an
overmatched referee is to reward ALG for heir run in the Festival itself .. ..
sad .. ..
BRAs main problem
is clear > THE DEFENCE! Nobody wants to track back and DAID LUIZ is doing
whatever he wants .. .. There is nor shape, no discipline and no hustle .. ..
Pickup futbol in it's most urban form .. ..
BRA
MoM:
OSCAR (club: Chelsea)
The only player who looked like he knew what he
was doing, and wanted to be doing it .. .. Former U-20 starlet has cemented his
place in the senior side as the massive rebuilding effort now begins .. ..
NED
MoM: ROBIN
VAN PERSIE (club: Manchester United)
Another nice
Festival for a player who should be the talisman at Ole Trafford .. .. Will now
get a few weeks off while his manager and Man U teammates head off to Pasadena
for pre-season training .. ..

WIN OR GO HOME?
What
happens when you get to the 2014 World Cup for your first match .. ..
If you LOST your last Friendly
before your first Group Match = 1W – 1L – 2D = 5 pts
If you WON your last Friendly
before your first Group Match = 9W – 9L – 2D = 29 pts
If you DREW your last Friendly
before your first Group Match = 2W – xD – 2L = 6 pts
