Late Group E Game-Winning Goals (6/22)

E3-Costa Rica was headed to a scoreless tie with E1-Brazil despite taking no shots on goal and having just one corner kick but Brazil scored twice in stoppage time to dash those hopes.  E2-Switzerland was also heading to a tie in their match with E4-Serbia before Xherdan Shaqiri's great effort as he slipped the ball under the GK in the 90' to give them a 2-1 win.  Brazil and the Swiss are tied atop Group E with 4 points while Costa Rica is eliminated.  Serbia became the first team to score first and lose as well as have a lead at halftime and lose.

In a team that didn't play today, D1-Argentina benefited as
D4-Nigeria topped D2-Iceland 2-0 to move into 2nd.  Had Iceland won, they'd have 4 points and at least a +1 goal differential (4 better than ARG) and Argentina would need a lot of help as Iceland would just need at minimum a tie against Croatia and could still advance with a loss and winning on goal differential.  Now, Iceland has a -2 GD (ARG has a -3) and the only help Argentina needs is for Croatia to win or tie against Iceland or to win on goal differential or goals for (which Argentina trails Iceland in GD by 1) if Iceland wins.  Of course, Argentina still needs to beat Nigeria which is not a slam dunk. 

Ilvecchio, Patty, Popozao, Spermicidal FC, and Teuton are now tied for 1st (17 pts). Patty replaced Alyonshka who fell to a tie for 6th (16). 7 went 3-0 today while 22 went 1-2. 19 picked NGA, 77 picked BRA, and 47 picked SUI.
